in Danau Rasau near the northeast part of Jambi on the Indonesian island of Sumatra.
Compared to other Licorice Gouramis, they identify from similar-looking Bintan or Harveyi type by having the characteristics stout body and parallel bands on unpaired fins. However the caudal fins are rounded instead of pointed and the finnage tend to be very dark with bright blue iridescence trimming.
Like all Licorice Gouramis, they can be difficult to sex but males have much longer and colorful fins and become intensely colored when ready to breed.
This particular Paros, has very dark almost black fins. Variation in coloration between the individuals is common.

Behavior and Diet:
These fish are generally peaceful and shy, preferring to hide among the vegetation or other structures in their environment. They are carnivores, feeding on a variety of small invertebrates, insect larvae, and algae. They will ONLY eat live food!
