Hyphessobrycon amanda, more commonly known as the Ember Tetra, is a small, vibrant tropical fish that is a popular choice among aquarium enthusiasts. Their striking orange and red coloration, combined with their peaceful nature, make them a great addition to any freshwater community tank.  Best kept in a school of 6 or more with plenty of vegetation. Ember Tetras are peaceful fish that can be kept with other small, peaceful species. Because of their speed, they can be kept with some medium size mouth brooders such as Taeniata, dimidiata and betta rubra as well as other small rasboras and tetras.

Size: Adults typically reach a length of about 1 inch (2.5 cm).
Coloration: Bright orange or red body with a translucent appearance, often with a slight coppery sheen.   
Tank Size: A minimum of a 5-gallon tank is recommended, but a larger tank will allow for a more natural schooling behavior.  Best kept in groups of at least 6
pH: 6.0-7.5
Temperature: 72-82°F (22-28°C)   
Hardness: Soft to moderately hard
Food: easy to feed, will take pellets
