Danio margaritatus (Celestial Pearl Danios aka CPD)
Danio margaritatus, also known as the celestial pearl danio or galaxy rasbora, is a freshwater fish species that belongs to the family Cyprinidae. It is native to Southeast Asia, specifically the Shan State in Myanmar, and was first discovered in 2006 by a German aquarist named Tanja Schwedt. They require a well-filtered aquarium with plenty of swimming space and hiding places, such as plants and caves.
Appearance: The celestial pearl danio is a small, colorful fish, with a maximum size of around 1 inch (2.5 cm) in length. Its body is a light blue-green color, with a series of iridescent pearl-like spots on its sides, and a bright red stripe running along its body. It has a small, pointed head, and a forked tail fin.
Habitat and behavior: Danio margaritatus is found in slow-moving streams and pools, and prefers clear, shallow water with plenty of vegetation. They are a peaceful species and are best kept in groups of at least 6 individuals. They are active swimmers and require plenty of open space to swim.
Diet: In the wild, the celestial pearl danio feeds on small invertebrates such as insect larvae, crustaceans, and worms. In captivity, they will readily accept a variety of foods, including high-quality flake foods, freeze-dried or frozen foods, and live foods such as brine shrimp or daphnia.
