Wild caught Betta sp. Jade - NEW SPECIES

From the Betta Coccina Complex.

Betta sp. Jade is an undescribed coccina type betta from the island of Sumatra that has been newly discovered. Though it has been known by collectors for a while, it's only been recently photographed and recorded. It features a unique mixture of Persephone/Miniopina and Api Api. The body is bright red like that of Api Api but has a distinctive green/blue iridescent on the flank of its body that stretches from the beginning of the anal fin down to the caudal fins. The ventral fins are narrow and tall with a rim of blue/white iridescent similar to that of Api Api. The caudal fins are round and comes to a point similar to that of Api and the anal fins are longer than that of Persephone but shorter than Api. Females look distinctively similar to that of Persephone/Miniopina. They inhabit blackwater swamps and are true blackwater fishes, making them somewhat delicate and difficult. like all coccina type fish, they require special care and are not begginer type fish. These new "coccina" type bettas are extraordinarily beautiful and are a great collection of blackwater aquarist.

Temperament: Moderately aggressive, males can be territorial when establishing breeding grounds. However, because of their small size, you can keep multiples pairs as long as you have enough space and cover. Expect fin nipping. Recommended 1 pair per 5 gal.

Diet: Carnivorous, we currently feed them live baby brine shrimp, live blackworms, frozen bloodworms and pellets.
