Wild Caught Betta Macrostoma from Brunei or Marudi

From the Betta Unimaculata Complex.

If you're looking for the king of bettas, this is it.  It's a highly sought after betta due to it's size and beauty.  Imagine betta albimarginata or channoides on steroids.  They are a gorgeous fish that gets red on the body with a nice pattern on it's dorsal fin.  

The Betta Macrostoma has also been known to be more sensitive to water conditions and are more susceptible to velvet than other large bettas. The beauty, rarity and difficulty contributes to it's higher cost.

We are currently out of stock because we do not always bring these in. When we do get the few that we bring in, they are typically sold since we have a wait list.

Basic Information

Temperament: Like many of the species in this complex, with the largest bettas, they can be aggressive. We recommend that they be kept in a species only tank as they can eat anything that fits in their big mouth.

Maximum Size: 4.5 inches.

Diet: Currently feeding on live, frozen and dried foods.

TDS ~ 60 - 100

pH ~ 5.0 - 7.0

Temperature: 72 - 82F (prefer cooler temp, but higher temp induce coloration and breeding behaviors)

Diet: Carnivorous, we currently feed them blackworms, frozen bloodworms and pellets.
